My First 20 days of the Wool & #100DayDressChallenge

Anna Walker · July 25, 2022
My First 20 days of the Wool & #100DayDressChallenge
I watched as my friend, Susanna, went through the #100daydresschallenge and was a little more than curious.
I work with wool, how could I not be curious?
She was very enthusiastic in her report of her challenge, accessorized the wool dress from @wool.and in so many creative ways, well, it got me wondering if I could do the challenge. It seemed like it would be an on brand thing for me to do as a fiber artist and felter, right?
But I would be spending the summer in Iowa. A wool dress during the summer in Iowa? Am I REALLY thinking about doing this?
Susanna continued to challenge me, showed the versatility and wearability of her wool dress, and assured me that it was much, much lighter than I thought. Plus, she said, having a limited wardrobe while living out of my suitcase for a few months might be perfect.
wool& suggests doing the #100DayDressChallenge to simplify your morning routine. We can spend (well, I know I can) hours trying to decide what to wear, looking through a closet full of clothes that don't quite go together or just wearing the same things without much creativity or thought. The 100 day challenge allows you to stretch your creativity to style the dress differently each day but also provides you with a beautiful base!
So...
I took the plunge and ordered the Camellia dress: sleeveless, shorter in length, and it was available in a lovely berry shade that is also on brand for me!
Now, one fifth+ of the way through my 100 days in the same dress, I can report the following:
*The dress is VERY lightweight and breathable and comfortable to wear, whether I am taking mom to an appointment, driving, shopping or walking around the 'farm', this dress can do it all!
*I have chosen to handwash the dress instead of putting it through the washing machine (my choice, not required), and it washes up very nicely, and dries overnight hanging in the shower, even in this Iowa humidity.
*I have had a couple of boo-boo stains (grease and tuna salad), but a little direct scrubbing on the stained areas with my castile soap before handwashing has removed any trace of the stains entirely!
I am looking forward to the next nearly 80 days to see what else I can do with this wonderful dress, and am excited to order another when the challenge is completed. My wardrobe will never be the same, and once I return home, I will be very happy to bless and release so much from my closet in favor of a capsule wardrobe centered on wool!
