So, What was next?
Hi again! I am betting that you want to know what’s next, right?
You know that I, too, was creatively challenged by all of the ‘NO’s I encountered from that 9th grade art teacher until just a few years ago. I tried just about everything you can imagine to find MY creativity: sewing, cross stitching, crocheting, beading, embroidery, scrapbooking, stamping, wirework…the list goes on and on. I’ll bet it does for you, too.
But then something happened which made EVERYTHING make sense: I won an online giveaway of a 4 oz. handpainted wool roving.
I KNOW, RIGHT?!?!?
What the heck is wool roving and what am I supposed to do with it?!?!?!?
Now, as you can see from the picture, the roving was LOVELY, was so soft and pet-able, and I would sit with it in my lap and stroke that beautiful fiber for hours on end-I even contemplated naming it “George”. I had NO desire to learn to spin wool into yarn, though I love and appreciate my friends who do that but was stumped. Then I happened upon a $4 “Teach Yourself to Needlefelt” kit at the local hobby store and thought, for 4 bucks, I can give this a try!
Two months later, my husband Randy said I had covered every horizontal surface in our home with felt.
I was hooked! Suddenly, all the other creative pursuits that hadn’t ‘stuck’ made sense-with felting as the base for everything else!
